Texas, Yee Haw!

Here at the Microsoft facility in Las Colinas, near the Dallas airport, things are a little different from back home in Seattle.

My first clue was the bold stenciled sign on the window next to the front door, which warns those with concealed handgun permits that you can’t actually bring your handgun into the building. Then I went to the cafeteria and tried the made-to-order fried alligator tail with rice and vegetables. It tasted like chicken, of course.

But in the classroom, it’s not much different from Redmond or Amsterdam or Toronto. Ted’s putting on a good show, the ISVs in attendance are all excited about the material, and after a couple of last-minute surprises getting things set up it’s been smooth sailing all day long.

I looked at myself in the mirror last night in my hotel room and said “Doug, don’t talk politics while you’re here in Texas. Just don’t do it!” So far so good on that, too.
