Making Office Pretty

Jensen Harris has an interesting post on his blog today about the thinking behind the colors of the contextual tabs in the Office 2007 ribbon interface. The look and feel of Office keeps getting better with each beta release, and as Jensen explains, there’s also some logic behind the use of color in the user interface.

Note the timestamp on that post: 4:00AM. Keep that in mind if you’re thinking of applying at Microsoft. :-)

  2. Hi, Doug. It’s me. Aunt Marsha. I know that I promised to play nice on your website…but since returning from MS. I cannot access my e-mail, any of my banking or credit accounts–nothing but your site. I sorta feel like I’m calling for help from some deep cyber pit–and can’t understand why your site is the only access to the outer world afforded me. Have you gained some unearthly powers since the honeymoon? Should I call the fire department? I’m scared. Jamal? Are you still reading Doug’s World? Help. (also—I recognize that red basket the kitties are in. I got it for a dollar, you know…painted it myself…)

  3. Hey Marsha! Look up here! It’s Doug and Megan, up on the edge of the cyber pit. Geez, how did you get down in there? Have you been drinking? :-)

Seriously, I’m not sure what’s going on. We may need to call or something.

That’s cool you recognized the red basket. It has become a staple of our feline S&M equipment. Cats like these, they need a lot of torturing, you know.

Hey, since I’ve split my blogs up into the personal one and the business one, we can all be a little more irreverent and unprofessional around here. A little!

By the way, Phil, what were you talking about? You thinking of applying at Microsoft?
