Oregon Road Trip

We’re off on a road trip to Eastern Oregon this weekend, to attend my uncle Irv and aunt Florance’s 50th wedding anniversary. More photos of the event itself later, but right now we’re in a hurry to check out of the Super 8 Motel in Baker City so that we can go on a hike in the nearby Eagle Cap Wilderness Area.

Mom, Megan, Phil and I drove down yesterday. Along the way we happened to pass a spectacular car fire just as it happened, an SUV that apparently overheated and exploded into flames. (Nobody was hurt, by the way.)

By the way, for those of you who haven’t seen much of Megan lately, here she is pulling up to church in a Hummer.

More later …

  1. Just happened to see this at the CNN website (I know, I still read it, though):

    CNN article about kabooming SUVs

  2. Interesting article. CNN has some good stuff this evening, too. I mean, or so I heard.

  3. Megan, I thought you said you’d never be caught dead in a Hummer? :)
    That’s a quaint looking church.

  4. Look, here I am with another one: http://chilco.textdrive.com/~dmahugh/2006/02/11/megans-new-hummer/#comments.

Doug’s brother owns an auto auction in Spokane, so a lot of these babies roll through. Somehow Doug has spread it around that I like those monstrosities….
