Cheaper gas for fall road trips
You know, I don’t really care what price gas is selling for. As long as the oil companies are making record profits, I think that tells us that the price is set just right.

I read that there is more money in the government taxes on the gasoline than there is net profit for so-called “big oil”.
Too bad our government won’t back away from the trough on this one.

Yeah, we’re addicted as a nation. I was just telling my young wife the other day about back in the 70s when we all though everyone would be getting 50 miles to the gallon by now, and big heavy cars would be ancient history. What happened?

My question is, If gas did drop to say $.50 a gallon what would we bitch about next? The fact that places like Starbucks get $3.00 for a fancy cup of joe, Don’t hear many gripes about the morning coffee, and that $3.00 does not move the big suvs or the smallest honda anywhere. Ps I have a BIG truck that gets 6 mpg on a good day that I use to tow the boat that gets (u don’t want to know),and a small truck that gets 25 mpg that I drive every day and use it to tow the jet ski that uses about 13 gallons in about 4-5 hours of actual ride time…..so I say lets go have a cup of coffee or visit aunt marsha and see how we feel in a short time. I’m thinking that a visit with aunt marsha sounds like loads of fun. do I see a cocktail part II in the making? watch out tom..

Yeah, we’ve been trying to cut back on lattes. Cut them out altogether, really. I was having one on the way in to work, one after lunch, and usually one some other time in the day. Megan too (well, maybe just two instead of my three). So that’s about $20 a day in lattes, which is $5000 a year. Geez. Makes gas look cheap. Now that we’re not getting lattes, we can afford an exotic vacation, right?
Besides, all the cute latte girls are in Spokane. I forgot that’s not really a reason to have them any more … force of habit, I guess.

As a married man you are not supposed to notice those “cute latte girls” anymore.

Hey, Nick, I think Cocktail II sounds like a great idea. I don’t remember Cocktail I very well but I think I bought the soundtrack on cassette from Columbia House.
Doug didn’t get the reference at all, thought you meant Tom Kepler. He’s a regular pop culture innocent that one.
