Leschi, here we come

Since there’s not enough going on in our lives these days and we were getting a bit bored, we decided to move this month in addition to everything else. And being the cautious, prudent types we are, we looked at a place and took it. No point in agonizing over these things, you know.

Here’s the view. That’s the I-90 floating bridge, of course. It’s much bigger, much safer, and more convenient to downtown, our friends and cat-sitters (Tracy are you listening?), bike trails to work, and other things. There’s a Starbucks in the neighborhood, and we can have dinner with Kip at the BluWater without even getting in the car. The only downside relative to our current place is that you can’t buy crack on the streetcorner, but we felt that’s not as big of an issue as some of the other things. Besides, the rent’s higher so we can’t afford those sorts of little pleasures any more anyway.

Lots more later.

  1. Great, let’s go to dinner! Actually I used to take sailing lessons out of the Corinthian Yacht Club at Leschi (in 14′ “yachts” woohoo). Looks like a Blue Angels party may be in order next summer, too!

  2. What a letdown. When my family and I come to Seattle we were going to try and mug up with y’all. Now I will not bother to pack my crack pipe in my luggage. :-(

    :-)

Best of luck in your new home!!!

  3. how the hell are you going to get the new camera if you are paying out the who who for rent? oh well d200? might have to wait a bit more. but a killer view is worth the wait I think.. hugs

  4. Cool place! As a Midwestern boy, I’m perpetually amazed that you have to work pretty hard to avoid having a spectacular view anywhere in Seattle.

  5. Yeah guys, crack smoking and a D200 aren’t the only things that just got in line behind a great view. But hey, you only live once, right? And Kip, great minds think alike: I was standing there on the front porch last night, and suddenly realized that we’ll have a great of the Blue Angels from above when they close I-90 during Seafair to buzz the lake.

Speaking of standing on the porch last night, here are a few more shots:

    Bellevue from the front porch
speaking of the porch — party central
the view from my new office
Megan enjoying the spacious living room
entrance to the downstairs guest apt/storage area
the patio by the kitchen door, for BBQ-with-a-view parties

Now we just need to move ASAP. Over the last few years we’ve been U-Haul’s favorite customer, but we’re going to be right here until June of 2008, when — assuming we still have good relationships with Ballmer et al — we plan to buy a place. This one, perhaps? :-) Sorry, U-Haul.

  6. i’m glad to see you two have finally come to your senses and moved closer to me. i can’t wait to cat sit. i can’t wait to watch mama’s family with megan. i can’t wait to sip cosmos on your deck. just let me know when and i’ll bring the catnip.

  7. Beautiful! That looks like a great place. I wish there was one here - I like the “inlaw apartment” on the lower level (it would be great for my parents and us). I mean, we have them here, but most of them don’t come with subscriptions to the Blue Angels!

  8. Hey Tracy, cosmos on the deck, coming up. After Saturday I think we’ll have enough stuff moved to officially be living there. Or at least enough stuff to make a batch of cosmos.

  9. I’ve got the reduced sugar crangrape! As Doug will tell you, I make a hell of a cosmo. Can’t be too pink for me.

  10. I read somewhere that reduced calorie/sugar mixers make it harder to burn the calories in alcohol. If we come up to cat sit do we get a sample of your excellent cosmos? Mom

  11. Sweet pad Dougie ! Can’t wait too visit soon !

  12. Okay, so I know you have busy stuff going on between work and moving and so forth, but we’re all waiting with baited, er, we’re all waiting eagerly for more pictures. I would have expected that between your love of photography and of blogging, we’ll all know by know the placement of each outlet in your new place!

  13. Well, Tom:

    * my Vista laptop doesn’t work via wireless from home (don’t know why yet)

    * work is insane; way too busy, and I can’t get anything done from home (see above)

    * we were moving stuff night and day all weekend, and I forgot to take any pictures

I hope to get all of these items resolved tonight, if I ever get out of this office in Redmond. Step 1 will be to disable my Microsoft-required firewall. Please don’t tell anyone about the reckless risks I take; or the firewall thing.

  14. Okay, okay — I guess our rampant curiosity out here can wait.

On a related note, I just rolled over to Vista on my primary machine today. So far, I’m having some fun getting Palm Desktop to synch, but outside of that and a couple of display adapter false starts, I’m rolling! Kinda fun, really — it’s still sticky at times, but I certainly do enjoy the new interface. And I haven’t had much of anything crash on me (unless I was asking for it).

As for photo fun, I (and the collective we) can wait. But do sleep sometime if you can swing it. I’m not doing it myself these days, but I understand it’s good for you. ;)
