Spousal Business Travel
I travel quite a lot, and Megan and I discuss it from time to time …
Megan: “You travel too much, and I don’t travel enough. I think I’ll go to Paris with you next time.”
Doug: “We can’t afford for you to come every time, because Microsoft has deeper pockets than we do. Well, maybe Paris.”
Megan came along to Barcelona in November, and she’s going to come along on my next trip, to Brussels. Microsoft covers my room and airfare, so we just need to buy her a ticket and away we go. Although I may need to figure out how to get her into business class this time — it’s really awkward and distracting to have your wife crammed into a coach seat while you’re pounding down the free drinks in the forward cabin. Hint taken, Dear.
I’m feeling especially motivated to make Megan’s next Microsoft business trip a pleasant one, after seeing how this guy reacted to his wife’s “frequent business trips abroad.” Makes that first-class upgrade look pretty cheap!
