The flight home
We were the only two people in the entire first-class cabin (12 seats) on Alaska 231 from Mexico City to Los Angeles this week.

The Chivas Regal photo cracks me up. My only complaint (and a very minor one) when we visit Mexico is the country’s lack of dedication to single-malt scotch. Usually, whenever I inquire about a restaurant’s scotch selection down there, the waiter invariably beams and proclaims: “Oh, yes, we have Cheeevas!”
The margaritas are to die for.
Sorry to hear you and Megan had to contend with some malditos in Mexico. Come on down to Vallarta with us next time. We never have to lock the doors!

Where do you stay in Puerto Vallarta?
Next time we’re in Mexico City we’re staying at the cheap hotel Guillermo picked. No problems there! And the design was to die for, except for the plastic coverings on the furniture.
Why do people do that?

Oh, Doug, I love the new blog header. To die for! (Scott, I haven’t heard that phrase in a while. I like it.)

Thanks, Dear. Since I’m flying so much these days, it seemed fitting to use a shot of me on an airplane. After all, “my world” is usually inside the plane.

Megan, we stay here: http://www.cantovallarta.com/
It’s in the hotel zone, which is a bit newer, but still within walking distance to “viejo vallarta,” or old town, where there are lots of very cool older hotels.
It’s to die for!

Oh, Scott, speaking of single-malt scotches … after avoiding the Chivas, I had a Glenlivet 12 on the rocks as soon as I got on the plane. And the steward knew to make it a double, without me saying a word.

Zowie — I just went and looked at Canto del Sol, punched in a date range in October, and it looks like two adults can stay and eat and drink for $144 a night (with the fall discount). Right now rooms seem to be going for $168 a night. Granted, it says nothing about a personalized security assessment by some joker with a flashlight, but I bet you could pay a little extra and get that.
Man, prices like that, and we may have to get our passports in order.

Yeah, maybe we need an unofficial PIL reunion in PV some time. Make Scott regret sharing that link.

I know we’d be up for that. We have a house to buy in the near future, but that just gives us the opportunity for a home equity loan for stuff like this!
No, wait … Lizzie just sat bolt upright in the living room. I think she’s on to me …
Anyhow, it looks like there’s some good golf around there, too. Just sayin’.

It’s a trend. The airlines are starting to realize who they should be catering to: us. Now if Alaska could just get some electrical outlets in their forward cabins …
