Shuttle Launch
It was tempting to go watch the space shuttle launch this evening, but after hearing the stories of the multi-hour traffic jam we were glad we didn’t.
Instead, Mick Lohan (founder of South East Software in Galway, Ireland), Stephanie Krieger (author of Advanced Microsoft Office Documents 2007 Edition Inside Out) and I had dinner at Portofino Bay. After Stephanie left for the airport, Mick and I caught a glimpse of the vapor trail from 40 miles away, but we never actually saw the shuttle itself.
Hey Mick, you left your USB drive in the bar, and they had it delivered to my room. Megan and I will try to make plans to return it in person.

People talk about the hole in the ozone, I wonder how much all the spent fuel helps it out? HA HA I would love to get to watch it in person some day. Oh and maybe drive my 4-5 mpg truck down there just to help out the ozone, both are out of my spending zone so I guess I will just watch on tv… ho hum

Well, Nick, I was 40 miles away and didn’t bother, so don’t feel bad about not driving down. I’d like to see it some day, but after talking to the locals I’ve learned that you basically need to plan a full day around it. Get there hours early, sit around drinking beer or whatever, watch the event, then sit around for a while until the traffic jam clears out. Sort of like a football game, I guess.
