Urban renewal

We came home today to find the neighbors doing some remodeling. I guess this explains why they stopped mowing the lawn this spring.

ADDED SUNDAY: the house came down slowly over the last few days. Friday it was half gone, and Saturday they finished it off. A little sweeping up, and they’ll be ready to build a new one.

  1. Looks more like urban removal.

  2. Hey, for the record, every time I submit something I get a 500 error (internal server error). If I then go back and check, my submission has gone through. But something’s still amiss somewhere. Doesn’t bother me (heck, my back button works as well as the next guy’s), but I thought you’d want to know.

  3. Yeah, I’ve been getting the same thing. Thanks for confirming it’s not just me … I’ll look into it.

  4. Me too!

  5. I’ve played around with it a bit, but haven’t resolved it yet. According to Wordpress’s support blog, it’s a problem caused by an incorrectly installed addin — but I’ve not installed any addins.

Loud crashing noises are coming from the house, by the way, and it’s nearly gone now.

  6. Cool. You know, we were up in Wisconsin this past week, and right near where we were staying they were tearing down a strip mall. I very nearly pulled over to watch them do it. It’s fascinating to see — it’s so destructive, but at the same time it has to be done with delicate precision. I suggest you pack a box of wine and go sit outside and watch.

Which may explain why I don’t get put in charge of our social calendar.

  7. Doug,

even i am getting the same error. Wow, you guys manage to tear down a house within a day or two, here it takes ages. :) Maybe, Doug, i would send you a pic of the same from India.
