No, Thomas, I haven't read that one but I'll check it out.

I knew a guy who worked on a top-secret weapons system many years ago, and when I asked him about what he was working on, he said, "I can't talk about it, but you should read Tom Clancy's "Cardinal of the Kremlin" because a lot of people around here wonder how he figured out so much about what we're doing." So I read that one.

I guess Mr. Clancy is pretty good at figuring out what's going on in the US military/industrial complex.

Hi Doug,

did you ever read Tom Clancy's 'Executive Orders'? I just started reading (english version I acquired in London this week) and it appears like the template for 9/11. As it was published in '96, they had enough time to work it out. The enemies were others, but...

Yeah, I saw this one live when it aired. It's quite a contrast to the high spirits the Bush administration says are the case over there.

In related news, Paul Harvey today reported bitterly that the VA has STILL not paid out to Vietnam vets affected by Agent Orange. Every couple of years some court or other orders them to pay, and they ignore it. So once THAT gets over to Iraq and Afghanistan, morale should dip even more.

You know, Bush lost Paul Harvey about a year and a half ago. If you're a Republican president and you lose Paul Harvey, you're in bad shape.

And Moe, Elton's son was one of them. His tour was extended, then he went home for a few weeks and then returned for another year. He's home now but expects to be sent back eventually.

Simply amazing. And that story is played out hundreds of times each day. Nothing really surprises me any more when stories come out of Iraq that don't really go through the CNN/MSNBC filters.

...Sad :(
