I must admit, Scott, I've enjoyed that story because I used to work with people who supported guys like the dear senator. They deserve each other.

The bathroom senator will never get another chance because of his hipocracy... He voted for every bible thumping law that was attempted to be pushed though congress.

With all due respect for the dear senator.... nm this is a family blog. I'll be good =D

I'd go with the dog fight. Americans will forgive Vicks eventually, but the "bathroom senator" will never get a second chance. And what exactly are those "customs" he was familiar with? Geez, I feel so naive.

Funny this should come up today -- we've had a couple of good examples of spammers, phishers, and hackers in the past week around here. I just posted a little discussion forum (using phpBB, upgraded from the last version on the old server that got hacked by some jerk in Russia) for my parents' church discussion group, and we're already getting about ten bogus users a day (who all seem to be into swimming, live in Costa Rica, and want to sell all the Unitarians erectile dysfunction drugs or pictures of themselves nude at the beach). We've decided to take the board down, as it would quickly become a part-time job in and of itself just to reject all of these guys every day. We can ignore them and just not approve them, but I'm sure that over time that would start to bog down the db queries.

I know I'm usually the granola lovey-dovey guy who gleefully turns the other three cheeks, but I totally want to track these guys down and hit them with a brick. I just replaced my laptop hard drive for the second time (another bricky urge is directed toward Toshiba, but that's another post), and the amount of time I spent just configuring anti-spam, anti-phishing, firewall, and anti-virus software just because of these lazy bastards is ridiculous. And even with everything I configured, I still have to poke through maybe twenty or thirty bogus messages a day. Better than the 200 I was going through before, but still. Grrr.

Sorry -- I've been watching Katrina anniversary coverage all day while reinstalling everything and purging the discussion board of these parasites. Watching Bush wax rhapsodic about what great strides the gulf coast has made while installing AV software is not a good combination for a happy mood. I say again, Grrr. Maybe I need to find a nice relaxing dog fight or Minneapolis boy's room special.

I get 5-10 in my inbox each day on Hotmail, but Mahugh.com gets hundreds each day to admin@, sales@, etc. I used to let all of those go to my in-box and sort them out, but those days are long gone.

So if you send email to, say, complaints@mahugh.com, I can assure you that nobody ever sees it because I have it set up to delete anything sent to a mailbox I've not actually created. Of course, just putting that email address here will probably cause that address to get spam. It's a dirty world we live in.

Its good to see the engineers slaving over a hot algorithm to keep our internet clean.

I do like this feature for the most part. Although it does surprise me. I only get about 5-10 spam mails a day. Where my poor father gets about 50-100 ^_^ I am content with my amout of spam considering its a 10 year old hotmail account.

Its just a fact of life. Hell they can't even stop the junk mail hitting my mailbox every day...
