The fog of Redmond

this morning was one of those mornings there’s a dense fog covering Redmond, behind the skyscrapers of Bellevue from where we live across the lake. It’s weird … the sky can be crystal-clear over the lake and over the mountains, while in Redmond it’s so foggy that people can’t see a damn thing.

Odd place, Redmond.

  1. …kind of taking translucency to a new level, no?

  2. Diffusion, baby. That’s how the light gets in. :-)

  3. [Weird experience - the blog comment form is not visible and I have to find the entry fields by moving my cursor around. I can barely see the text-entry scroll bar here too, of course I haven’t typed enough to scroll.]

The other eerie part is the picture. You could have convinced me it was a Second Life scene.

I do love your photos. I just signed up for The Nikon Class coming to Seattle in January. My SB-600 is doing weird things. Time to trot out the manual and figure out what the heck is going on. I still have lens envy.

    [Just catching up.]

  4. Hey Orcmid, good to hear from you. Yeah, that picture was indeed an eerie scene. And I don’t know what’s going on with the blog these days. I upgraded to the latest Wordpress release, but still have several things that aren’t working correctly and haven’t got to the bottom of it.

And I learned something really fun last night — my Microsoft badge gets me access to the new office in Bellevue. So that means I can take my camera and tripod up to the top floor of that leftmost tall building in the photo, and take a photo back toward our house with a view of the whole Seattle area. Not today, but soon … I need some photos from the other side of the lake to balance my collection. And there’s an outdoor balcony up there, so I should be able to get some sharp shots on a clear day.

  5. It’s true….you sort of feel like you’re typing in a blind or something (ok–fairly typical for me, I know) as the ability to see the box or the fields is not so great here.

And the balcony at the office—is there a bar there?

Happy be-lated birthday, LaVonne (are you checking the blog from the Rhine?) ! Haven’t been on the site in a good while and am now seeing all that I have missed, including a birthday or 2.

But, the fog! Wow…very spooky looking, indeed.

The mountains are breathtaking, btw. When is the next coffee table book coming out? You’re so good, Doug. Do share yourself more (get an agent).

Wish Aunt Gloria could see these pictures –although, it would only add to her worry of you and Meg there in the bad weather.

    love, love–
    the aunt
