Yet, unlike the current day workers and their tears, Job had not only his faith and riches restored, but his tears wiped dry by the losses being doubled in their return.

Didn't know you knew bible stuff, Meggie. Huh. What is the landscaping like that Gran said you were doing? Doug---you're in on that?

Exactly so, Megan. It's some corn-like asian vegetable that gets ground into powder and put into soup for the taste it gives the broth.

Tad's link isn't working for me... but I assume that's Job's tears as in Job from the Bible (who had reasons enough to cry, certainly)--not jobs lost to China???

The Tom Bihn thing was great. I actually bought one of the bags in 2004, when they were promoting them on the home page before the election. But now it doesn't look like they're selling them, or they're pretty well hidden on the site.

At least I'd never heard of the Tom Binh thing, and at least they clearly didn't mean their own CEO. I mean, am I supposed to think they *vote* for their own CEO?

I don't think so!!

Dunno -- I think it's innocent. I got the impression from a conversation with a friend from China that Chinese workers have far less interest in arguing about jobs with Americans as Americans have in arguing with them. Like White Sox fans and Cubs fans -- White Sox fans hate the Cubs, and Cubs fans have no opinion about the White Sox (which is just all the more infuriating to the Sox fans).

Sorry -- this time of year EVERYTHING comes back to a baseball analogy sooner or later.

Man, that really takes the fun out of it. I'm so over being jealous of that souvenir soup can.

"Foreign" still seems a bit odd. Meaning "Korean" perhaps? Or can we hold out hope that it's a jab at US attitudes about globalization?

Check it out:

<a href="http://www.islandfoodie.com/jobs tears.htm" rel="nofollow">http://www.islandfoodie.com/jobs tears.htm</a>

I guess the lesson is: Google before you jump on the Chinese.

(Who woulda thunk that "Job's Tears" is a real food ingredient!)
