Ugh.. That guy makes me grind my teeth.. Savage that is.

I preaty much only listen to 1090 progressive talk radio. It is so nice to hear them doing to the conservatives, in turn to what they have done to liberals for the last 10 years.

The blogs had a lot of fun on Friday too, Scott. For example: "<a href="http://blatherwatch.blogs.com/talk_radio/2008/05/friday-oddems-h.html" rel="nofollow">Matthews went after him like a school marm on meth</a>."

Gareth, coincidentally I've found Michael Savage is on KTTH "The Truth" here in Seattle when I tune in during the evening commute, so he's the one I've heard the most, followed by Michael Medved (who's on during lunchtime). I like to hear what these guys are preaching, and am usually quite relieved to see how unfounded so much of it is. Megan doesn't find it as amusing as I do, so I tend to listen when she's not around and then give her brief summaries of what she missed.

By the way, the jury's still out on whether you left the States in time. :-)

When I lived in Boston back in 2000-2003, I first experienced the dubious "pleasure" of nutjob hate radio. We didn't have anything like it back in the UK, so it worried me at first, thinking that the US was somehow a receptive audience for this type of stuff.

After a while, I realized that there was, of course, a fringe that took this all seriously, but there was also a pretty large amount of voyeurs like myself.

For me, it was Michael Savage, who I was forced to listen to on my evening commute, after they replaced Jim Kramer (the manic stocks guy). He was a real piece of work.

The really weird thing about Savage, is that he used to hang around with the beat poets, Ferlenghetti and Ginsburg - how people change.

It was a guilty pleasure, but I did wonder if listening to this crackpot would have a long term impact on my mental health, so it was kind of lucky that I left the States before it did too much damage.

Luckily, when I go back to the US on business, I rarely rent a car - so I have managed to avoid the temptation to take another hit since July 2003.

I would have really loved to see Savage get the kind of treatment meted out to Kevin James in the video.

This clip was too funny. It was all over the liberal talk radio on friday. It was fun to see the usually conservitive mouthpiece Mathews, actually put it to the conservative fearmongering BS.

LIke I said, friday, every talk show was gabbing about this. It was one big laugh in.
